108-2 Student Alert Counseling Program – Invitation

1. Objectives

In hope to assist students to develop effective learning methods and strategies, this program aims to assess the factors behind students’ learning difficulties, provide them with appropriate counseling, and inspire them to form a more positive attitude and motivation towards learning.

2. Application Requirements

    1.1 Applications (within one department) should be submitted together by the Department.

    1.2  Target counselees:

        1.2.1. A student’s GAP falls below 2.0 for TWO consecutive or THREE cumulative semesters.

        1.2.2. Students with other special conditions may also be included in order to better their learning.

3. Program Implementation

3.1 Survey of Students’ Learnings (Must Do)

According to the University’s “Guidelines for Academic Guidance”, the Academic Office will compile lists of students whose GPA falls below 2.0 in the previous semester, and notify the students as well as their parents, departments, faculties and the Students’ Affairs Office. Advisors or Heads of the Departments will interview those students, in order to identify the reasons behind the students’ learning struggles, and decide whether a referral to the counseling program is necessary.

3.2 The Student Alert Counseling Program

After interviewing the students, the advisors or heads of the Departments may organize the counseling program according to the students’ needs (e.g. choosing suitable students/seniors to be assistant counselors). The counseling program will take place from April to May.

           3.2.1 Assistant Counselor Recruitment and Training: Assistant counselors may be senior or graduate (Master’s or Doctoral) students within the same department, or students who are deemed capable of mentoring others by course instructors. If the assistant counselor is an international student, please make sure to attach copies of his/her ARC, passport and 183 days Confirmation Form (visit NDHU website →Administrations → General Affairs Office →Cashier Section → Downloads). (See Appendix 5)

          3.2.2  Counseling time and venue: This program does not impose restrictions as to when and where the counseling should take place. However, please make sure to arrange the meetings in the way that the students would be able to and are willing to participate.

4. Guidelines for the Final Report (Please seal document envelopes, as they contain confidential information about the students)

     4.1 Program Application: Application forms (see Appendix 1) must be submitted by the Department no later than 27th, March (Fri.)

     4.2  Documents to be submitted during the program: # The following documents must be submitted MONTHLY, otherwise we will not process the reimbursements.

     4.2.1 Consultation Records – by Assistant Counselor (see Appendix 2)

    4.2.2 Counselor Reimbursement Form, only need to be submitted once. (see Appendix 5)

4.3  Final Reports of the program must be submitted by 19th,June,2020 (Fri.)

    4.3.1 Overall Evaluation of Consultation – by Assistant Counselor (see Appendix 3)

    4.3.2 Overall Evaluation of Consultation – by Counselee (student) (see Appendix 4)

Future chances of getting acceptance into the program will be affected for those who failed to submit the documents on time. Please inform the Center in advance, if there is a valid reason for an extension.

5. Other Matters

     5.1 There is a counselee–counselor ratio of 1:1 for each Department. A NT$3000 bonus will be awarded to the assistant counselor at the end of the semester.

    5.2 Each assistant counselor may mentor 2 students at most, the advisor will assist with the mentoring and counseling.

    5.3 The monthly Consultation Records and Reimbursement Forms shall be submitted together by the Department.

    5.4 The budget of this program is for counseling purpose only, which aims to help advisors to counsel students on their learning. Therefore, the bonus money may only be used to award assistant counselors, and NOT for any other uses.

    5.5 Assistant counselors will be included in the group Insurance plan during the counseling period from November to December.
